Passionate about creating high impact learning environments and integrative learning experiences for students through the lens of appreciative education, Annie Kelly works within the Center for Experiential Learning at Loyola University Chicago. Annie uses appreciative pedagogical practices in her teaching within service-learning and academic internship courses at Loyola where she guides and challenges students and faculty to critically reflect on their experiences within and beyond the classroom in connection to Loyola’s social justice-focused mission.
Prior to joining the Center, Annie served as an Academic Advisor for Loyola University Chicago’s First and Second Year Advising and the Interdisciplinary Honors Program where she taught sections of UNIV 101: First-Year Seminar, UNIV 112: Strategies for Learning, and UNIV 102: Being An Agent of Social Change and integrated appreciative advising and appreciative instruction into her work with students. Annie has also served in her home state of Kentucky as an Assistant Director of New Student and Family Programs at the University of Kentucky where she implemented the Appreciative Advising model in the recruitment, training, and supervision of the student leaders.
Annie is currently working on her doctorate at Loyola University Chicago in Curriculum and Instruction. She earned a Masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from Saint Louis University.
