Bryant Hutson is Director of Assessment for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hil. Previously Dr. Hutson was Director of Research for CREDO, as well as Director of the Faculty Teaching and Learning Commons and Associate Director for Student Academic Services at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). He has developed and implemented advising, retention, and student success programming based on appreciative advising, and he and his staff received the Noel-Levitz Retention Excellence Award in 2004 and 2009 and the NACADA Outstanding Advising Program Award.
A co-founder of the Appreciative Advising and Appreciative Education movement, he has conducted research and published extensively in the areas of faculty development, academic advising, student retention, and the use of assessment to support student success. He is a recipient of the 2013 North Carolina College Personnel Association (NCCPA) Distinguished Scholar Award in recognition of his research contributions to the field of Student Development and Student Affairs.
