David resides in Washington DC, where he is completing the final stages, including clinical components of his Ph.D. in Counselor Education at The George Washington University (GW). He is currently a Psychology Extern, in the Counseling Center at The Catholic University of America, Clinical Doctoral Supervisor at the Community Counseling Services Center (GW) and Adjunct Faculty in the School of Business at GW. He has held multiple roles within higher education for the last 10 years in student affairs and academic administration.
For the past 5 years, David served as the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs, in the School of Business, where he developed, implemented and assessed programming for undergraduate business students. He established collaborative relationships with campus partners and corporate sponsors that provided support to student programs on campus and community development initiatives within the Washington DC. In addition, he was responsible for the curriculum and implementation of a first-year experience course that is required for all freshmen and transfer business students. Prior to this role he served as an Undergraduate Student Experience Advisor in the School of Business, worked in housing/residence life and Greek Affairs.
David connected with the Appreciative Advising framework when he was struggling with the transactional nature of his advising appointments. This framework provided a transformational change in his interactions with students both inside and outside of the classroom. David has served as a consultant to train teams at institutions and taught the Appreciative Advising course online. David earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Bowling Green State University, a Master's of Education at University of South Carolina in Higher Education and Student Affairs and a Master's of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University.
