Heather Doyle holds a BA in Psychology from University of Prince Edward Island and a MEd in Counseling Psychology from Memorial University. She serves as Senior Advisor on Retention and Director of Student Academic Success at Dalhousie University, where she provides strategic advice and counsel on the development and implementation of pan-university initiatives and teams to increase student success and retention to degree completion, as well as oversees the newly developed Bissett Student Success Centre.
She is the first certified Appreciative Advisor in Canada and works as a sessional lecturer at Florida Atlantic University and University of Manitoba, teaching the online Appreciative Advising course, and Advising Essentials course respectively. Heather is part of the NACADA: Global Community for Academic Advising Consultant & Speakers Series, has been a mentor through the NACADA Emerging Leader Program, Chair of the NACADA Emerging Leader Advisory Board, Chair of the Sustainable NACADA Leadership Committee and is a faculty member at the NACADA Assessment Institute. She has also served as President of the Atlantic Association of College and University Student Services (AACUSS). Heather has presented and published in Canada, the United States and Africa in the areas of academic advising, career advising, Appreciative Advising, social justice in advising, advising assessment and student success.
